I’m still in shock over what happened last Saturday. My name is X, I’m 24, and I’ve had a best friend for four years. We’ve always been very close, but there’s never been anything physical between us. We confided everything in each other—he’d tell me about his life, and I’d tell him about mine.
When he met his fiancée, he introduced her to me, and I even helped plan their wedding. But…
The day before his wedding, last Saturday, he gave me a ride home. We were alone for a while. He looked at me for a long time and said, “You know I’ve always been in love with you…” At first, I thought he was joking, that he was saying it to me just as a good friend would. But then he kissed me… I couldn’t control my emotions, and we ended up making love that night, in his car.
The next day, he got married, as if nothing had happened. I was there, attending the ceremony, with this pain and silence eating away at me from the inside.
Yesterday, he sent me messages saying he regretted his marriage, that he should have married me. I’m completely lost. I cry every night in my bed. I feel like I’ve betrayed another woman… and betrayed myself. I feel dirty.
